UPDATED 3/24: With the Governor’s “Safer at Home” directive, the StrongBodies program has been canceled through April 24. If you are currently enrolled in the program and would like to have some alternative ways to participate online, please email Becky and we will help you find a way to stay active!
Amber Canto, Health and Well Being Institute Director, UW-Madison Division of Extension, who is responsible for overseeing the Wisconsin StrongBodies program issued the following statement earlier today:
Extension along with the UW-Madison community have been keeping a close eye on developments around the novel coronavirus COVID-19. The health and safety of our staff, volunteers, program participants and communities is our top priority. We know that some populations, like older adults and individuals with serious chronic medical conditions like heart disease, diabetes, and lung disease are at increased risk of getting sick from this illness. Out of an abundance of caution for protecting the spread of illness, we are requiring that all Extension-affiliated StrongBodies programs be cancelled or postponed between now and April 10th.
We understand the value the StrongBodies program brings to the individuals and communities who participate. At this time, we are following best available public health guidance to keep our communities and those at greater risk of illness safe. Please know that this is an evolving situation and we will follow up with any new information as it is available.
Therefore, all Merrill and Tomahawk StrongBodies classes are cancelled now through April 10th. If we receive new information that classes will need to be cancelled for a longer length of time, we will notify you as soon as possible of this new date.
We will be calculating credits for all participants once classes resume. Enclosed is a form that we are asking you complete and return to let us know if you would like to carry credits over to the next session or if you prefer to receive a refund. If you need a refund form, download it here
