The Aging and Disability Resource Center will be offering Powerful Tools for Caregivers. This is a 6-week class (meeting 1x/week) to help family caregiver’s better care for themselves, while in their caregiving role. Caregivers can be anyone caring for a parent, a spouse or even a friend. It could be anything from helping with grocery shopping, cooking, and cleaning (etc.) a few times a month to providing care or support for someone daily.
People who have completed the workshop report improvements in:
- Self-care behaviors (increased exercise, use of relaxation techniques and medical check-ups)
- Managing emotions (reduced guilt, anger and depression)
- Self-efficacy (increased confidence in coping with caregiving demands)
- Use of community resources (increased utilization of community services)
The program will be offered on Mondays, beginning March 4- April 8 from 1:00-2:45 PM at the TB Scott Free Library. There is a suggested contribution of $10.00 for the entire 6-week class.
